Australian tennis has long been a thriving hot-spot for talent, and few look more exciting than Destinee Aiava. Just 19 years of age, she has already reached as high as 147th on the WTA rankings and has managed to reach nine finals at ITF level. For many, it is a matter of when, not if, she breaks into the Top 100 and beyond.

She’s a very impressive young talent, having quickly come onto the scene after a wildcard entry to the 2017 Australian Open. This made her a history maker – the first player, male or female, to play in the main draw of a Grand Slam after being born in the present millennium. It’s quite an achievement, but not all she is known for: an exhilarating playstyle and a care-free approach to the game makes he truly stand out.

Her first final came in the ITF Canberra, losing in May 2016 to Eri Hozumi. Her most recent tournament, though, was the ACT International in Australia, where she beat Risa Osaki 6-2, 6-2 to win this. For one so young, it would be hard to put any kind of limit on just how far this young talent could go. Australian tennis certainly has one of its brightest prospects at WTA level in some time.
